Giving Back

Members of the CME family feel a duty to give their time and resources back to the communities that so generously support us.

By supporting local causes, donating to charitable organizations, and promoting a paperless office environment, we place high importance on community involvement and environmental responsibility.

Alzheimer’s Society of BC
Geoff Willis’ wife Alice joined 8 other climbers on the Ascent for Alzheimer’s up Mount Kilimanjaro in October 2011. The group raised over $120,000 all of which went to research to fight this growing disease. The Alzheimer’s Society of BC will continue to be a supported cause of CME.

CEED Centre (Community Education on Environment & Development)
Rebecca Awram is on the Board of Directors of this Maple Ridge non-profit that operates their historic building as a drop-in community centre, also offering programs and services in the fields of food security and community development. She can be found volunteering at events all year long and is the Event Chair of their annual Earth Day fundraiser Cheers To The Planet: Eat, Drink & Be Eco.

Habitat for Humanity
Nine of our staff acted as construction labourers at a townhome site in conjunction with one of our key lending partners, MCAP. This community is now occupied by thirty two deserving families, thanks to financial and labour donations made to the Habitat for Humanity. CME will continue to give their time and financial resources to this cause.

First United
Denny Segal’s daughter Brittany orchestrates a dinner for the needy at a downtown eastside shelter the last Friday of every month. Brittany organizes the menu, does all of the shopping for the food items, organizes a group of volunteers, and ensures that the entire evening comes off without a hitch and up to 200 people are well treated and fed. CME has been pleased to support financially and with volunteers, Brittany has been recognized for her local philanthropy by the YWCA as a nominee for the Women of Distinction award in 2011.

Special Olympics
Kevin Dear and Melisa Rossnagel took on leadership roles as a coach and administrator for the Special Olympics track and field team in 2008/9. Both played active roles in the fund raising efforts for the athletes to attend events across the Province and this culminated with participation in a major National Special Olympics event.
